When you invest in a Reflexology treatment, are you paying for a foot massage?

Is Reflexology just a foot massage that makes your feet feel nice at the time, and then you get on with your day?

When you invest in a Reflexology treatment you have the opportunity to switch off completely.  It is YOUR time which can be a rare opportunity for some people. You can close your eyes and drift off. You can have a sleep.  A lot of clients say they go to a place of reduced consciousness, somewhere between asleep and awake. If you find chatting helps you to relax, you can do that too.

During the very first treatment, you have the opportunity to assess your overall health and wellbeing as we discuss your health in general.

There are thousands of nerve endings in your feet. When these are massaged, they create an overall energy buzz and result in a calm, floaty feeling.  The treatment is bespoke and tailored to you, to work at releasing tensions that are in your muscles and within the organs in your body too (yes, it really does).  Tension exists in different places for different people.  I can relay the details of where the tensions are (shoulders, beck, neck, digestive system etc). As a Reflexologist, I find these areas on the feet and massage them, which works to release the tension within the body too. This release of tension helps your body and mind to feel relaxed.  It can feel just as relaxing as a full body massage.

After the treatment, your body and mind will feel more relaxed than before the treatment, and if you have the chance to do very little afterwards, that feeling will stay with you for longer.

Often, the treatment induces clearer thinking around subjects that were bothering you or helps order your thoughts if you have too much to think about. It makes you feel grounded.

There is a feeling of lightness, like a weight has been lifted.

Often, people sleep better after a treatment and feel good the next day too.

Having a course of treatments has a cumulative effect and people often say they have a new found optimism.

Is Reflexology a foot massage? It depends on how you look at it…….

Have just read all of the above and totally endorse everything you’ve written. When my boys were young I felt I was on a never ending treadmill. Constantly trying to get everything done before I could relax and never found the time for any relaxation. One day while at Butlins with one of my sons and three grandchildren (over ten years ago) as we walked by the spa, I told him how I always wanted to have a massage but never had the time or the money for one. Bless his heart, upon our return home he prepaid for me to have one at Livingwell ( now Banatyn). That changed my life. I started having them as often as I could afford to. I thought, other people smoke, drink, go to the pub etc and I don’t do any of those things. We all deserve to feel good about ourselves and any “pampering “ will do that. So, everyone should try a massage or reflexology once and see how they feel. It’s amazing.

Thank you Julie. That was a fab read! How lovely of your Son to do that for you, and how profound that first massage was for you.
Thanks for taking the time to share your story x
