Shoes on or shoes off!? What is grounding?

I always walk barefoot when I am in the garden.  I’ve done it since I learnt about ‘grounding’ many years ago.  But what is it?

Grounding is the act of connecting to the earth to realign your own electrical energy by connecting to the earth.  It makes sense to me and feels right to do it, but what are the positive effects of grounding?

Grounding is said to improve sleep, blood-flow and vitality whilst reducing inflammation, pain and stress.  By connecting with the earth, there is a ‘transfer of free electrons into the body, a transfer resulting in rapid, sometimes instant, physiological changes. Earthing restores and maintains a natural internal electrical environment’.  This sentence came from the website linked below.  If you would like to know more about the science around grounding, it is worth taking a look, especially the thermal images of body parts before and after grounding.

Hopefully you feel inspired to take your shoes off outside, even if it is for just a short time while you are sitting out and enjoying the nice weather this week.
