New Year Intentions

New Years Resolutions have a bad press.  I’m sure most of us know what it feels like to set them only to feel disappointed if we don’t achieve them.

I still do them but call them New Year Intentions. In fact, I set new intentions regularly, not just at the start of the year. Starting a new plan or idea at the start of a new moon can be a great time.  Some intentions I achieve quickly and successfully and others take many years to achieve because I get distracted or it’s not the right time for me. I feel that setting intentions is a relaxed way of looking towards the future and thinking about how you want it to be. They don’t need a deadline. It’s ok to get distracted along the way. Sometimes it really isn’t the right time, but it can still be there as a future goal for when the time is right.

I have read many self-help books and listened to positive meditations over the years. They make me feel positive and optimistic about the change I am about to embark on. More recently I listen to audio books while I do some jobs around the house.

One common thread that runs through them all and one I practice alot is setting positive intentions. Even of they seem wildly crazy and unachievable!  Focusing on what you would like in the future can be powerful even if you have no idea how you are going to achieve it. Our subconscious mind is very clever and can start to figure out the plan if it knows where you are heading.

Trust in your plans and intentions. Think about what you DO want and watch your plans unfold….

Happy New Year everybody!!
